Eric Isaacson, the founder of cult reissue label Mississippi Records is bringing his slideshow, lecture and film night to PINK on Lord Street.
The show follows music scenes that kept going under authoritarian rule, from Ethiopia, Cambodia and North Korea to Germany, Brazil, Kenya and the US. It’s about who tries to control music (governments, moralists, corporations, big tech) and how ordinary people keep finding ways round them. Isaacson also draws on his own experience of watching fascism rise.
It’s part history lesson, part crate-dig and on paper it’s one of the more cultural nights out in Stockport this month.
