    What's happening in August

School's out, so it's a big month for family days too. Stockport Krazy Races takes over Mersey Square on the 9th with homemade karts battling a 350m course of chicanes and water splashes, and Stopford House Party follows on the 16th with live music, workshops and local makers for the whole family. For more ways to keep the kids entertained around Stockport this summer, check out our guide.

On Sunday 23rd Stockport does what Stockport does best, and plays host to the Northern heat of the British Street Food Awards.

It’s been a long time coming, but a host of exciting new independents are finally opening their doors in Stockport with Rita Rays, Bodega Wine Bar and Kontrol welcoming guests as the new Weir Mill residents. Prologue will shortly follow, and the whole complex is shaping up to be quite the destination.

August closes out on a high with the Made in Manchester Festival taking over Romiley for the bank holiday weekend on the 29th and 30th; tribute bands, a fairground and a dog show for good measure.
