10 things to do with the kids in Stockport this summer

1.Stockroom

Stockroom has a fun filled creative schedule over the summer and worth keeping an eye on as there are lots of free activities taking place. On Saturday 1st August, 11am–2pm there is a Krazy Kart themed activity- bring your old loo rolls and turn them into race cars ahead of Stockport's very own soapbox derby on Sunday 9th August, so this is basically training.
Stockroom's children's library is worth checking out while you're there too with over 3,000 books, a sensory room, a treehouse play area and cafe for the Mums and Dads.
2.Stockport PoGo: MAX Power
No fixed venue. Meetups gather around Viaduct Park and move through the town centre
If your kids are into Pokémon GO, this local community runs raid hours and meetups all month. MAX Power kicks it off on Saturday 1st August, followed by a National Trust meetup at Dunham Massey on Sunday 9th August, a Community Day on Sunday 16th August, and RaidFest on Saturday 22nd August.

3.4NT Kids Wellbeing Club @ 4NT
Swallow Mill, Swallow Street, Stockport, SK1 3HJ
3rd–6th, 10th–13th, 17th–20th and 24th–27th August, Monday to Thursday
Four Noble Truths runs its 4NT Kids Club across four weeks this summer, for ages 5–12. Expect yoga, trapeze, sound baths, dance and creative mindful activities. £25 a day including lunch, though funded places are available through Stockport Council's HAF programme if your child's school is registered. 4.MakeGood Summer Sessions @ Make Build Grow
238 Stockport Road, Stockport, SK3 0LX
Teens Tuesdays 4, 11, 18 & 25th August · Primary Wednesdays 5, 12, 19 & 26th August
Run by Make Build Grow CIC out in Cheadle Heath, MakeGood's funded summer sessions run 11am–2pm and cover arts, crafts, games, baking and lunch. Teens (12–16) get Tuesdays, primary-age kids (7–11) get Wednesdays. You'll need to RSVP and fill in a form per child before a place is confirmed, so don't leave it to the morning of. 5.The Light

To celebrate the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, The Light's got some creepy 8-legged guests in for photo opportunities, brilliant if your kid's obsessed with bugs, less so if they're not.

6.Farm Fest at Reddish Vale Farm

1st - 31st August
This is the farm going all out. New for 2026: dinosaur encounters, a circus workshop and a stilt walker weaving through the crowds with bubbles, on top of the usual funfair rides, inflatable assault course, glitter face painting and a children's entertainer. Everyone gets an activity passport on arrival that covers most of it (funfair rides usually cost extra) and there's a foam party to finish, so pack a spare set of clothes. 7.Make Mini Monsters @ Broadstone Mill
Broadstone Mill Shopping Outlet, Broadstone Road, Reddish, SK5 7DL
Friday 14th August, 1.30–3pm
A polymer clay workshop run by Home petite Home kids can sculpt their own miniature monster, materials and tuition included. Under-14s need a parent or guardian with them. Tickets and any additional dates on Eventbrite.
8.Stockport's Museums Go All Out for Summer

Stockport's museums have upped their game this summer with apacked programme running right across the borough's six sites (Hat Works, Staircase House, the Air Raid Shelters, Stockport Museum, Bramall Hall and the War Memorial Art Gallery), and most of it's cheap or free. Here's what's worth building a day around:
Nevill T. Bear's Beast & Bug Detective Trail — running now until 6 September at Bramall Hall. Kids turn mini-detective and hunt the hall for the unusual creatures living under its roof, from bats to beetles, with a magnifying glass to keep. £3 per trail, ages 3–10, under-16s need a paying adult with them.
Thursday Makes for Kids — a different craft every Thursday at 10am at Staircase House with artist Caroline Coates, ages 8+: Lego printing (30 July), foil art (6 Aug), make and paint a purse (13 Aug), nature imprint decorations (20 Aug), beaded bracelets (27 Aug). Free for Leisure Key holders.
Air Raid Shelters Summer Family Tours — the kids' version of the ever-popular Explorer Tours, taking families down into the tunnels to experience wartime Stockport through a child's eyes. Not suitable under 7s or toddlers. Two dates: Friday 7 and Friday 21 August, 10–11.15am.
The Mad Hatter's Missing Invitation at Hat Works ,Friday 21 August, shows at 10.15am, 11.30am, 1pm and 2.15pm.
NK Theatre Arts' Alice in Wonderland-inspired day of theatre, storytelling and audience participation, the White Rabbit leading you round. £5 plus booking fee, free for Leisure Key holders.
Heroes of History: Stories for All at Stockport Museum,Tuesday 25 August, 10.30am.
Local storyteller Ilaria brings the borough's history to life through the "heroes" found in its museum collections. Free for Leisure Key holders.
If you're planning to hit a few over the summer, the Stockport Explorer ticket gets you one visit each to the Air Raid Shelters, Bramall Hall and Staircase House for £14 adult / £9.50 concession — considerably cheaper than paying separately. Book everything here, or see the full museums overview.
9.Stockport Alpacas
Highfields College, Essex Road, Brinnington, Stockport, SK5 8DR
Open 7 days a week during the school holidays
Genuinely one of the more unexpected days out this end of Stockport. They're based on school grounds so during term time it's weekends and evenings only, but over the summer holidays they're open every day. Three experiences, all an hour long: Meet & Greet (£8pp) — feed, greet and spend time with the herd; Grazing (£15pp) — walk the alpacas on a halter round their field while they graze, with cuddles built in; and Walking (£25pp) — a full walk out to a nearby field. It's two people per alpaca throughout, under-16s need an adult on the booking for Meet & Greet and Grazing, and under-14s need to lead alongside an adult for Walking. One thing worth knowing before you go: there's no facility to watch or take photos if you're not taking part, so it's participants only. No online booking system, you message their Facebook page directly to sort a slot.
10.Plastic Shed Summer Workshops
Plastic Shed's workshops are a great shout for plastic-pollution-conscious crafting, and to celebrat their new permanent space at 14 Deanery Way in Merseyway they are launching a programme of summer workshops including bottle lid mural making, crafting and making tools out of recycled plastic. If you’re looking for a sustainable summer activity this is it, follow them on Instagram for details or book via the website plasticshed.org.
If you're looking for something free and outdoorsy, you can also take part in their mural trail across different parts of Stockport.
